Where can I recycle batteries?
http://www.call2recycle.org/ offers a search feature, to help you locate a facility where you can take your batteries for recycling.
Western Illinois Regional Council accepts batteries.
Can I recycle light bulbs?
You can recycle light bulbs at Galesburg Electric. Please contact them for details.
What can I do with hazardous materials?
Western Illinois Regional Council accepts batteries and CFL light bulbs.
You can take old paint to Tri-County Resource.
Contact the Illinois EPA to help reinstate funding and/or hazardous material collection sites in Illinois.
Write your Illinois legislators to encourage them to push for these types of collections again. Individual letters, not form letters signed by constituents, are the most effective! Store your materials, until a collection is announced.
How about electronics? What do you accept? How do I recycle those items?
Yes, we do accept electronics.
Electronics must be brought to the facility during business hours and please check in at the
front office. Electronics are not accepted at the curb. Businesses need to contact Eagle Enterprises Recycling, Inc. for rules and directions for electronic recycling that are specific to a business setting.
What about appliances?
We can accept large appliances, such as stoves, washing machines, dryers, and hot water heaters; however, we cannot accept those that have Freon in them (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and humidifiers).
Where can I recycle tires?
Please contact a business where you would purchase new tires.
Do you accept odd items, such as Little Tikes play set pieces?
Yes, Little Tikes play set pieces are accepted for recycling! We also accept other odd items, depending on the type of material. We can test whether your item is recyclable here at our facility.
